Finding job descriptions & projections

One of the very best places to find out what a job entails is the Occupational Outlook Handbook, published by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

There's also a mobile version.

Every entry describes the nature of the work, working conditions, the education or experience required, salary expectations, whether the field is likely to grow in the near future, and so on.

You can also search by salary, education level, and other criteria, or browse a list of highest paying jobs or fastest growing employment fields.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics also publishes information about industries, including many employment projections and other data.

Explore Careers, also from BLS, includes self-assessments and links to career information.

The library has several career guides from Wetfeet that might help you.
