Use SouthernSearch to identify and locate books, video, audio and other materials in our library. Select "SCSU Catalog (Books and Collections)" from the menu in the box next to "Search". Enter your search terms in the search box and click on "Search". It is often best to begin with a keyword search. On the left panel of your search results page, you will see your result list broken down by categories. Select "books" to get a list of print and e-books the library has on your subject.
Once you have identified an item that is within the scope of your research, click on the title to get the entire record. Then use the subject headings found in the record describing it to locate similar materials. You may wish to browse the books shelved near it in the stacks as they are likely to be on the same, or a related, subject. Books that can be checked out are on the second and third floors of the library. Reference books are shelved on the main floor.
If you see "online access" or full text available" beneath each record of your search results, that means the full book is available online. Just click on the link to access the book. You will be required to enter your SCSU username and password to access the book if you are not on campus.
