iPads in the Library: Home

Useful Apps -- General

Tips

  • On the keyboard, hold you finger on one of the letters to see additional options, like ' on the ! key.

  • Press the home button twice, quickly, to get a toolbar of recently used apps at the bottom of your screen.

  • According to the manuals, you can drag apps to different screen by holding your finger on the app icon until it starts shaking (the icon, not your finger) and then dragging it to the edge of the screen. I can't get this to work, but it does work to drag the app to the lower toolbar (the one with Mail in it). Then swipe the screen to change screens and drag the app off the toolbar.

  • You can create folders by dragging one app on top of another. The default folder name will be something related to the apps, but you can change it. Drag additional apps onto the folder icon to add them.

Changing your password

Changing passwords on the iPad seems to be tricky. It seems to have something to do with Apple products interfacing with the network. Here is what seems to work best.

  1. Change your password at MySCSU.
  2. Log onto a regular computer with your new password, or login at https://remote.southernct.edu.

You may also be able to do these two steps in reverse, changing your password on a computer first, then logging into MySCSU with the new password.

  3. Change your password in the Settings app on the iPad under: WiFi - SCSU Internet (you should be prompted to re-enter your password. If not, select SCSUInternet then click to Forget the Network. Go back to the WiFi list and select SCSU Internet again; you will be prompted to enter your username and password.)
  4. Change your password in the Setting app on the iPad under: Mail - Exchange - Account
