This is a guide to information literacy for students taking Tier 2 courses. It is designed to help students find and use reliable research resources in the SCSU library and on the web. Students will learn how to use the library's catalog effectively to find and locate books, e-books, and multi-media. Students will also be introduced to the library databases and learn which databases to use for their research topics. They will learn different search strategies for retrieving relevant articles for their papers and projects. Students will also understand how to evaluate and cite the information they find in print and online so as to make them better learners and researchers.

Information Literacy is the ability to find, retrieve, analyze, evaluate, and use information effectively and ethically. It is especially important that in today's world of information explosion students know how to locate information and use it accurately and appropriately for a specific purpose.
