Sit Down & Write!

About the library series of writing workshops

What is "Sit Down & Write"?

FALL 2024
Tuesdays 2pm-4pm

If you are interested in attending Sit Down & Write for the fall and cannot make Tuesdays, let us know what a good time to write is for you!

Sit Down & Write is a “Facilitated Writing” session. The idea is that we can have a dedicated time, every week, devoted to writing…or any other quiet creative activity. By scheduling it, and having a group, we can motivate ourselves to actually Sit Down & Write.

We’re using the Pomodoro Technique, which consists of 25 minute working sessions and 5 minute breaks: a time-tested technique that helps many people focus and accomplish tasks.

When is it?

A tan-skinned, dark haired, female-presenting person sits at a desk with a laptop. Behind her is a screen that says 'Virtual Sit Down & Write 20:24'. The title says 'Focused practice; together while apart. Let's...Sit Down & Write, virtually.'

Click 'Join or Create a Team' at the bottom of the Teams list and enter t4is0ho in the 'Join a Team with a Code' option. Or ask Rebecca to add you.

You'll get notices for all the Sit Down & Write events and we can share ideas and resources for improving our focus and productivity.

Why?

Well...to get our writing done!

It's hard to "make time" to write, and to do all the related things that writing requires:

  • Reading
  • Notetaking
  • Analyzing
  • Transcribing
  • Formatting
  • Editing
  • Revising

So come and use a little bit of peer pressure to help make it a priority. We can cheer each other on!

Can't make it?

Can't make the time, but interested in the technique? Want to start your own group?

Get in touch with Rebecca Hedreen to learn about using these techniques on your own.
