Research Overview: hate crimes and violence against lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people. 

summary from the Human Rights Campaign website: This report presents an overview of research about LGBTQ hate crimes from law enforcement statistics, opinion polls and several studies published since 2006. The report also discusses best reporting practices for law enforcement agencies and presents recommendations for future research and advocacy efforts on hate crimes for LGBTQ populations.

Stonewall Book Awards

from the website: The first and most enduring award for GLBT books is the Stonewall Book Awards, sponsored by the American Library Association's Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Round Table. Since Isabel Miller's Patience and Sarah received the first award in 1971, many other books have been honored for exceptional merit relating to the gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgender experience.  The Rainbow Book List is a joint project of the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Round Table and the Social Responsibilities Round Table of the American Library Association.  The Rainbow Book List presents an annual bibliography of quality books with significant and authentic GLBTQ content, which are recommended for people from birth through eighteen years of age.

Over the Rainbow Books

The Rainbow Book List is a joint project of the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Round Table and the Social Responsibilities Round Table of the American Library Association.  The Rainbow Book List presents an annual bibliography of quality books with significant and authentic GLBTQ content, which are recommended for people from birth through old age.  annual lists for children and teens,  books for adult readers

Lambda Literary Award (Lammy) Finalists and Winners

The library has many titles on the shelves of the circulating, reference and children's book sections related to LGBTQ topics.

The best place to browse for books is on the second floor near HQ76.3.

There are also TONS of ebooks that can be read online or downloaded a chapter or two at a time.

To refine a search go to SouthernSearch (Primo) choose advanced search,  and use words or terms in any field that describe your interest.  Make "material type" = books, filter your search with "full text available online" .   Click on titles to read!
