Library Services for Graduate Students: Resources for you

The Library works with Graduate Students to provide you with the best resources for your programs, courses, and research. Some of our services include:

• Book loans for 120 days
• Loans from the entire CSCU system (varying loan periods)
• Hundreds of databases, thousands of ebooks, and millions of online articles and other online resources
• Interlibrary Loan from all over the world, including RapidILL for quick article delivery
• Study rooms for individual and small group work
• Individual and group sessions with subject specialist librarians for searching (both for course work and your literature review), finding instruments and scales, identifying publication venues, copyright advice, and more

To make your graduate program easier, we recommend doing these as soon as possible:

• get to know your subject librarian and databases on your subject
• make sure you can log into Interlibrary Loan (and fill out the one-time contact info form that will be presented the first time you login)
• decide how you are going to keep track of articles, books, and other resources: a citation manager or other organizational strategy
• review a thesis or dissertation from your department at SCSU (only theses and dissertations are kept at the library. If you are doing a special project, ask your department for examples)
• find out what citation style your department requires and start to get familiar with it

As you focus in on your topic and start your research:

• work with your librarian to focus your library searches for your lit review
• discover and research instruments (scales, questionnaires, etc.) and methodologies
